After Cancelling Zelda Switch 2 Pre-Orders, Walmart Is Now Supposedly Sending

Last week, Walmart reportedly cancelled Zelda Switch 2 pre-orders a day before the launch after it "oversold" the consoles.

In an update, the retailer is apparently giving out vouchers in response to the upset these cancellations have caused. As highlighted by Polygon, some customers are now supposedly being compensated with "$519 gift cards".

Here's the email response customers are now receiving from Walmart (confirmed by deal website CheapAssGamer.com):

We know you were looking forward to your preorder of Nintendo Switch 2 Legend of Zelda, and we sincerely apologize that we canceled your pre-order. This was our mistake.

To show our appreciation for you as a Walmart customer and help make up for the canceled order, we're sending you a Walmart eGift Card for $519.99. You'll receive this gift card via email within 10 business days.

Again, we're sorry for the mistake. Thank you for being a Walmart customer. We look forward to serving you again soon.

According to the same story, these customers are also being given the chance to reorder the Zelda-themed Switch 2, and the gift card "essentially grants what sounds like a free Switch 2".

Based on some other customer stories online, Walmart may also be offering "one or the other", where the customer gets to either reorder the limited edition system or can get a gift card matching the cost of this unit.

There's also speculation that this offer from Walmart is "too good to be true" and could potentially be another blunder. However, multiple customers have noted how it's come from the '[email protected]' email address, so it seems promising.
