A Kickstarter campaign was recently launched for a Pokémon Mini ROM Cart. There’s already a working prototype that plays Pokémon mini and original Game Boy roms. At the moment, you can get a single-flash Pokémon mini cart that requires a programmer, but this PM2354 SD will allow you to load everything via a MicroSD. The price is about $60 plus shipping and the team’s goal is to ship to customers by the end of the year. More info can be found in the Kickstarter campaign:

As a note, this project was inspired by zwenergy’s PM2040, however there’s no affiliation between the two. I’m mentioning this both to clear up any confusion, but also because I’m happy Pokémon mini owners might get a chance to buy one! I’ve been following zwenergy’s work for years and I’m a huge fan, but many of his projects have to be hand-made. It’s nice to see his open source contributions get picked up by people willing to update and manufacture them as well!
Also, as with all Kickstarter campaigns, there’s no guarantees – Especially with all the global delays happening. That said, while shipping to customers by the end of the year is a bit ambitious, the hardware and software seem to be on track. Also, it’s based on a Waveshare RP2040-Zero, which should be available. So fingers crossed it all goes well, so people can have a fully-functional Pokémon mini ROM cart to load all their translated games onto one MicroSD!
