Twitch is testing a Stream Coach feature that uses gen AI to give ‘optional

If you’re a livestreamer on Twitch, getting feedback about how your last few broadcasts went can be absolutely important. But how would you feel if that feedback was coming not from a helpful human viewer, but from generative AI instead? That looks to be something that Twitch is trying out as shared by blogger Zach Bussey — and later confirmed by Twitch itself.

This AI Stream Coach will effectively “watch” a broadcast (for varying definitions of that word) and provide “personalized and auto-generated feedback” that promises to “[highlight] what’s working, where viewers engaged most, and what to try next” in terms of things like monetization, channel setup, and engagement.

As one might expect, several replies to the feature pushed back against yet another instance of Twitch force-feeding gen AI into the platform, along with multiple questions about how to turn it off. Bussey’s replies stated that there is no way to turn it off, but the Twitch Support Twitter account clarified that there is an opt-out option for testers to use, that all users are “always in control of whether or not they use any of the feedback it provides,” and that if the feature gets more widespread, it would be something that users would have to opt in to use.
